Can I sue my accuser? Why don't the police do anything?

There are layers to this. First, you can sue anyone for anything in the US, but the chances of you winning depend on too many factors that can't be explained in a  FAQ. The short answer is probably no. Also, it often isn't worth the cost. Second, only the government can bring criminal charges against individuals. It is difficult to charge those who make false accusations and win. In addition, the government doesn't like to charge these individuals as it will discourage actual victims to speak up. Yes, this is unfair. We are certain you have suffered severe financial and emotional harm from a false accusation. As of now the best you can do is hire a good lawyer be knowledgeable about false conviction prevention to reduce the chance of this happening again. Do not talk to the police, don't let them in your home without a warrant, and get a qualified lawyer the instant something serious happens. Take our course to find out more. It pains us to read the stories about your life being ruined, but we can't do anything about it. Spread the word about prevention to try to help others not get to that point if possible.
